I think I have the answers to my questions:

    1. Unlikely to buy such a guitar ready made off-the-shelf

    2. Thanks to this little quote from the Custom Orders page of the site, just about any kit will do:

Body routing: any configuration of pickups (single coil/humbucker/mini-humbucker/P90/JB, PB or bass humbucker), plus the controls and the control cavity routing to your preference. You can even order a blank body, with no routing except for the neck pocket.

This one definitely wouldn't make it past the Minister of Finance any time soon, so I'm in no rush to move on it. All the same, it can be an exciting process to start designing it in my head.

    Here's what I'm thinking:

Bridge humbucker, P90 middle, single coil in the neck.

Separate volume and tone knob for each. Push/pull knob on bridge volume for coil tap purposes. 5 way selector switch. Massive control cavity required!!!

    Kit:
I've always had my eye on the PBG-2. They're not available right now, but neither are my funds. All in good time.

    Pick ups:
Looks like I'll be giving Toneriders a good go

...and of course I'll need gold hardware to go with those

I've no idea what I'm going to do for a finish, but I'm willing to bet it'll be a lot of fun to play.

    I wouldn't say an L.P.
I always think of turning it into something like this.

Adam has compared the PBG-2 to a LP a number of times now as well, but I think they look more like a Music Man

Hmm, that would work very well I reckon. I think if you were determined enough it could be reshaped to look fairly LP like as well. Of course if you want binding you'd have to redo that all yourself, but I reckon you could get pretty close.

Hmm yeah, its a much shorter body isn't it? Very hard to tell some times. There was a Ric style kit I was going to make for someone, but when it arrived the proportions were not what we were expecting, so we ended up selling it.

I still think you could cut the top horn a bit like the Maton and it'd look pretty cool.

Here's something I hadn't bargained for: I intend on sticking a P90 in the middle, but P90s are almost always sold as neck or bridge. Would a neck or bridge pick up go better in the middle?

The Seymour Duncan stacked HBs I had in The Count ( ST1-A ) the neck and middle pups had the same branding and DC resistance, so I am guessing you would use a neck pup

I'd probably go with neck as well. Strat mid and neck pups sold in sets normally have the same DC resistance.

I assume the P90 will be a soapbar? If a dog ear type, then you also need to consider the pickup height as it's non adjustable (except with shims).

I had planned on a soapbar P90. Mind you, as this guitar exists purely in my imagination at this point, alterations to the design are easily made if necessary .

I wonder if there's a reason for putting neck pickups in the middle. Prior to learning what standard procedure is, I just assumed it would be a bridge pickup.
