Yes, it’s been a fairly torrid few months, but many of the key stressors are dealt with or mitigated. TFFT.

It’s only had the Japan black, I almost left it completely black cause it looked great, but I felt this was more in line with what my mate was after. I didn’t fill as I like the tactile effect of the grain in the body.

Classic blues? That would be awesome! Did you still need a reboarding done?

I ended up changing necks on that one due to an incurable twist....buuuut I was hoping a collaboration on the Vela S2 may be a 2021 project? We can talk deets later.

    ....And we’re done.

After 4 sandbacks, a replacement body, a change of direction, a headstock sand through, a pick guard and pickup change, a broken trem screw and subsequent drill out and dowelling, it is complete and sounding like a strat should.

FrankenLab 19/013 Kangaroo Island Special Edition

    PBG standard ST kit neck
    FrankenLab replacement Bone nut
PBG replacement American Ash 2 piece body
    - FW Japan Black grain pop
    - SCA Automotive clear for neck and Body
    - Grover locking tuners (These are going to be a mandatory fit for any kits I build from here on out, SO Much easier!)
    - Tone Rider City Limits Pup set
    - Standard Kit wiring and gear
    - Standard Kit hardware

Getting ready to ship it off to it’s very patient owner. Now let us never speak of it again!

Cheers McCreed, this one was a painful build. Really happy with the result.

Yeah, I just re-read the whole thread. I’d forgot what trials and tribulations you went through with it.

But apart from that we’re there any problems?

Seriously though, good on you for getting to the end. Your friend must be chuffed.
