    Curb side cleanup find.

Another little project for me. Found this out for curb side cleanup while I was out walking this afternoon. Looks like it’s barely been played, but it’s clearly been sitting in a garage or something for a while. It’s a 3/4 scale guitar. I’ll clean it up and then I’ll probably sell it on eBay or give it away.

    Good stuff!!!
I had a similar a couple of weeks ago. Classical acoustic, reattached the bridge, clean, lubricate the tuners and $12 for new strings.
Was going to leave with my music teacher to give to a student or such, but my son dropped in and by chance said his youngest wanted a starter guitar, all sorted

Plugged it in today. Works fine. The neck itself is straight, and has a nice satin finish. Can find out what type of wood the body is. It’s pretty light (but it is quite small).

I removed the rusted up tuners and dug around through all my left over kit tuners and found 6 that are the right orientation and are decent enough. I’ll have to drill the holes out to 10mm, but that’s not an issue. A new bridge will probably be the only thing I need to buy for it.

But is that glue in the neck route? And check out the drunken neck screws! I really need to sand out the glue, or whatever that is. The neck relief angle is a bit off.

Gotta love a free guitar. Never seen one like that either...
Years ago I was doing road works one Monday morning behind a live venue and found a smashed les Paul copy in the bin! It was Complete, the neck and headstock had been broken off presumably in a Hendrix moment at the end of the gig. Glued it all together and gave it to a friend as his first guitar, loved it!

The spec for the guitar says the body is made from Basswood.

If the glue in the neck pocket fills in cavities and makes the pocket flat, I'd probably leave it as it is. There's paint that's obviously filling some pits in it, so unless the glue is making things uneven, I'd just let it be.

My gut tells me that too, but the alternative is shim the other end of the neck to lower the action, but then I think the bridge may end up being too high for the bridge. I’ve purchased a new bridge for it, so when it arrives I’ll re-check what the action looks like.

And I’m unconvinced it’s basswood. The colour looks wrong in the little bit of exposed wood there is, and I think a basswood body would be heavier, even with the smaller body size. From the look inside the cavities it’s not plywood, which is something.

The thick layer of black paint on the headstock didn’t like me drilling out the tuner holes to 10mm.

Not quite sure what I’m going to do about it. I promised myself I wouldn’t spend anymore money on it than I absolutely needed to.
