    Gear Bags

    Hey guys,
Just wondering what everyone is using to carry all of their gear to gigs etc.
I'm looking for something fairly compact, even back pack sized to carry my cables, cd's, strap, pedals and general paraphernalia. If ti has straps attached to handle mic stands and guitar stands as well, even better.
    Show me what you got!
    Thanks in advance.

Been a while since I've been'a'giging, but I use/d an old laptop bag. Lots of room for peddles and leads etc, shoulder strap so I can sling it over and have a hand free for guitar and amp. A lot of the older ones have CD storage build into them as well. Cost about $5 at the op-shop.

Hell... you blokes travel light!! I used two metal travelling cases from the 30s; one for hardware and one for cables!!

I'm with the laptop bag, my portaflex bass head, all the cables and bits fit in it easily, its padded and well built.
I have a cheap pedal board box for my guitar, which has space for 4 cables and power lead as well as all the pedals cable tied down too. About the size of a thick briefcase, with my HT5 and gig bag for guitar it makes a very portable rig.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, most insightful.
I've been scouring the interwebs for the last couple of days and found a few different bags that look to do the job.
I really like the look and usability of this one, just waiting for it to become available so I can see how much they want to charge for it.

And here is another one that also gets good reviews.

Some I've come across are in the $3-400 range, and that is just ridiculous for my requirements.
I'll have a look around my local area for some options before locking down my selection.

    Keep the suggestions coming!

Yep, when I normally perform, I just rock up with my guitar and plug in to the already set up system at the venue.
I'm looking to do some more solo performances around the area so now I'll have more gear to carry around.
At the moment, it's going to be:
    Acoustic Guitar
    Amp
    Mic Stand
    Guitar Stand
    Leads(Power, Mic, guitar)
    1 x Pedal
    Stash of CD's for sale
And room for some emergency supplies(Spare Capo, batteries, Strings, small hand tools, string winder etc.

It's not a lot, but if I can get the bulk of what I need into the venue in one trip, I'll be happier.

Take a look at some tactical rifle bags, they have tie downs inside that will hold your stands, pockets on the outside in various configurations depending on brand.

I have an Ibanez double guitar gig bag. I can take two solid body electrics, a bunch of 10’ cables and spare strings, picks etc. When I didn’t have a car I could carry that on my back and have my amp, pedal board case and amp stand strapped to a trolley and get to rehearsals by train.
    Current:
    GTH-1

    Completed:
    AST-1FB
First Act ME276 (resurrected curb-side find)
    ES-5V
    Scratchie lapsteel
    Custom ST-1 12 String
    JBA-4
    TL-1TB
    Scratch Lapsteel
    Meinl DIY Cajon
    Cigar Box lap steel

    Wishing:
    Baritone
Open D/Standard Double 6 twin neck

So who wants to see what I eventually went for??!!
None of the above suggestions unfortunately, and also totally different to what I was initially looking for!! I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that has happened to!!

    So, what did I get?
I picked up this modular tool chest from the local big chain hardware store, Bunnings.

As you can see, it also doubles as a handy amp stand

This particular chest has a top lockable compartment, and two separate, lockable drawers

The top section habdles a 10mtr/30' extension lead on a reel with four power outlets, plus an additional multi point power outlet, just in case. In the plastic bag, I have some CD's for sale. Plenty of room still in here

In the first drawer, you can see there are 7 compartments, with removable dividers. I have a bunch of random items in here including a spare tuner, spare strings, gaffer and electrical tape, a multi tool, and wire cutter, hook & loop cable ties, Microphone, pen, pencil and pad of paper, spare capo, and spare pics, and spare guitar strap.

For the moment, the bottom drawer only contains my guitar and mic leads, plus a small 3.5mm lead for plugging in my phone for additional tunes.
There is still plenty of room for my single pedal, and power cable for the amp

I will be getting a small collapsible trolley that will have straps to hold everything in place, including my guitar and mic stand.
I can further add to the chest my purchasing additional boxes which all lock together, as per the photo below.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions, I hope all of the options has helped out someone else!
