Probably closer to Gilmore with the black pick guard, but it’s not really a tribute to either. The kid it’s for just wanted black on black, it’s early days playing wise so I’m not sure he has any guitar hero’s yet.

It was hanging and a gust of wind from the open shed door blew it against my level, which was hanging nearby. Fixed now. It wasnt as deep a ding as it looked thankfully.

So after that little oops I blocked it all back, I didn't even need to go through the primer to get the ding out luckily. Gave it another coat. Left that for about 3 days, then sanded it back with 1500. Sprayed what should be the last colour coat today. I don't think I'll bother with a clear as its come up really well and there is plenty of black on there now to cut and polish the little bit of orange peel out.

I'll leave this and turn my attention back to the neck. Still trying to work out a head stock design to suit, I'll post a few concepts in a little while.

Decided it needed some more teenager appropriate knobs Flashy as....

It's hardening up nicely - looking forward to cut and polish. Very busy will rellies visiting for my eldest daughters Graduation at the end of the week so won't get to do much until they all bugger off.

Then I really just need to make a decision about the head stock decal.......

Speaking as a teenager trapped inside an adults body, I really like this guitar, even if it is a solid body!

for future phil if you put a dent in the wood after you started finishing, what i do (and i have had my share) with them dents in the colour or clear is i just continue the painting ignoring to dent till when i have put down 3 or 4 coats of clear, i get some unthinned clear and a padle pop stick, dip it in the clear and drop a little drop of clear in to the dent make sure the dent is full of unthinned clear, leave it 2 days for it to dry weather dependant, use 1" square flat bit of wood with 600 w&d and lightly sand it and leave the clear a little higher, then give it 3 or 4 coats of clear leave to dry as normal then just w&d as normal then polish and dent gone, saves a lot of headaches specially if your doing a dye or stain where putty will be seen

Yeah I was pretty lucky that it was a shallow dent just in the paint, so was easy enough to repair. Had another slight boo boo yesterday and cut through the black while I was polishing the lower horn. So all knocked back again, hopefully I'll get a fresh coat on this arvo.

I did get my head stock decal on - based on the recipients last name for a bit of fun.

Also decided to start putting my own makers mark on as well.
