Looks good in yellow and any alternative coloured scratch plate as that red is way too wrong.

    Cheers, Waz.
Yes, Even tossed up simple black scratch plate...I'll knock one up out of MDF to trial.
Thinking of extending it somewhat to mimmic the Telecaster P basses

I'd probably best leave others to judge

Here's some more thinking out loud.

    cheers, Mark.
This puts me in mind of an idea i'd doodled about a JM with a solid timber or alloy scratchplate recessed into the face of the guitar.
I do like your single piece idea, a reduction of the 'Busy' look across the face of the guitar.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.

So then it's a happy co-incidence. When in doubt, opt for the cheap way out.
    Speaking of which.
Inspecting the headstock tuner hole placement...alas one was further away from his brethren...so.
Have had these suckers sitting on the shelf unused for quite some time.

Can't remember exactly how much but under $20.
Thing is they require an 8mm hole.
Fortunately I have a good supply of dowels left over from Pitbull build one.

    cheers, Mark.

    Dowelled the bridge holes.
Next task would be to fill the original tremolo cavity.

    cheers, Mark.

Yes, I like the way your MDF template sits and IMO the shape suits better than standard kit stuff.

    Right again Waz.
I think the Jazzmaster one-piece is the direction to take.
After sleeping on it, I've decided to have another go...the lower rear section should follow the edge of the body.
I'll leave out the upper controls for the first iteration, however I'll change the 'Fender' style selector switch for the 'Gibson' style toggle.

    cheers, Mark.
