Mucking about - Trying to make a body.

So it looked like a horrible weekend was on the cards, no builds happening so what to do.

I had a slab of ply left over from another project, 40 mm thick so I thought, wonder if I can make a reasonable copy of my old 1978 Westbury, one of those guitars you wish you hadn't sold.

So with limited tools and very limited skills had a go.

I've got plenty of parts so if I can get something reasonable made up I'll buy a bolt on neck.

Printed out a template of a double cut LP and modified the top and bottom slightly.

Not to bad I don't think, will tidy it up and see how we go, just a bit of fun.

These projects are always fun (or could end up a total failure). I'm curious how this will end

Nice idea! I'd like to have a go at this too. Pitbull has some necks for sale which are great value.

Agree on the fun project comment.
I also have a plan. Last February I picked up a few lengths of INTERESTING cypress pine flooring. I have it seasoning in my workshop, possibly later this year or early next, it was very green when I got it.

The knots might make routing difficult. But if they were wings on the sides of another piece of more consistent wood........Hmmm......
