    1st Build - GR-1SFG

    First attempt at a build.
Got the kit yesterday and couldn't be happier with components. Nice tight fit on the neck. Might need to fill in some very small gaps but thats fine with me. Almost immediately regretting getting a hollow body as i can seen a lot of swearing happening trying to get the electronics in there wired up.

congrats! The electronics aren't so bad on the full hollow bodies, you can feed it all in via the pick up hole rather than trying to squeeze it through an F hole on the semi's.

Welcome to the madness, your user name suggests you might be a Shadows fan.

As Deady said feed the wiring in through the pickup holes and feed some 6mm tubing through the pot holes, slip it over the pot shafts and it will make getting them in place dead easy.

Also build the loom complete and mount it on some cardboard ( kit lid ) to make sure everything works before you have to reach for the Tourettes dictionary when you discover problems after fitting it up without pre test

What Dave and Dedman said ^^^. Having just done it this afternoon with cotton I can confirm it's not too bad a job actually.

Just wondering how people have been connecting the bridge to ground on these guitars.
I understand i have to drill a hole into the body but is there really a cable that comes out and gets soldered to the bridge. I imagine on this style guitar that would be very visible.

No no no....you don’t have to do that.

On a hollow body I made....and a number of others here....and in the Wiring section....you should find a helpful tip to just thread an earth wire out from inside the body through a drilled hole under the metal mounting points of your bigsby. The bottom end...next to one of the mounting screw holes is often used. Then strip a section of the insulation....fan out the wire nice and wide and flat and lay it underneath and with full contact with the metal body of the bigsby.

Another rookie question. What treatment do people do on the fingerboard.
Is it generally a couple of coats of lemon oil?

Lemon oil, or Dingo wax (now back in stock on the Pitbull site) which is harder work, but longer wearing or some do seal them, all depends on person preference
