Got the blank strat pickguard today, and did a mock up. It took a while to got the guard to fit the Tele neck, and I'm expecting it to take a long time to make a decent job of the routing out the pickups. Happy with the headstock, it almost looks like a laminate rather than a solid piece.
Colour will be sea foam green, and was planning on a relic, but if I told keeps coming up good it might stay new looking!

    Interesting concept.

Not a fan of oversized Strat headstocks but you have done a great job carving out the Tele shape on top.

Some routing on the body done. The circular hole is for the blend knob for the centre pickup, the Tele control plate opening is longer as I have moved it back a bit too accomodate the strat scratchplate better. Gotta sort a front screw mount somehow. The centre pickup hole is a bit wobbly, but at lest it will be hidden! This ash body is hard!

I have been looking at the TLA kit sitting on the shelf for some months, not sure what I was going to do with it. Thought I'd try something different but the same, yet another strat Tele hybrid. I got the idea for the headstock from the STELECASTER which was made by the fender custom shop. Wasn't sure if I could pull this off, but it has come out ok with the simple routing jig made from scrap timber!
The plan is a relic seafoam with a cream blank mod strat scratchplate with Tele and centre strat pickups on a mod Tele body, with Tele wiring and control plate and a strat cream blend knob to add the centre strat pickup into the mix, which hopefully will give the strat quack as well as the option of all three pickups on at once. Wow that was some long sentence.
Saw this wiring on a limited edition Tele setup from the custom shop, but haven't played it.
The headstock with have a Fender badge on the 70s strat headstock disappearing behind the Tele headstock and my badge on the Tele. Not quite finished sanding the headstock here, but happy with the routing.

Got most of the holes cut in the body and pickguard now. Everything fits, as it is a tidy join around the Tele control plate, excellent!
Thinking of putting a bevel in the Tele body for a forearm rest, like a strat, but not sure. Any thoughts?
Anyone got a suggestion for a strat middle pickup that might go nicely with my set of tonerider hot wound Tele pickups? I know it will only hum cancel with one, I'm guessing the bridge.
I'm going to wire the middle pickup direct through the strat volume to the output so it doesn't mess with the Tele setup at all when it is off.

Agreed, but there's already quite a lot of unnecessary other stuff on this guitar, so I'm not sure!!!!!
