Thread: STA-1MH The King's first PB kit.

Partly the camera Simon. The Low E string is probably skewed downward slightly but the rest seem to be fairly straight.
I'll have another look at it tomorrow...may tweak the position of the two low string hole locations...
Also I'm using 'vintage' tuners which have smaller diameter posts.

    cheers, Mark.

I've just fitted a replacement neck to a friends Tele for him. I don't know where he got it from, eBay probably, but the headstock was longer than normal and the post holes too far apart to fit vintage tuners as I'd have liked.

The holes on this neck were mostly 24mm apart (a couple were 23mm).
A couple of templates that had the measurement spelled out were 25mm (1 inch).
I lined up the 'vintage' tuners (there is one screw between each of them) and 25mm looked about right.

    cheers, Mark.

I remember bodging an eBay Tele neck for one of my own guitars that had a wider than vintage hole spacing and I'd already bought vintage tuners for it. I simply used a bigger screws with a wide pan-head in between each tuner to hold the tuner bodies down. It wasn't pretty, but it worked!

Also if it all goes tits-up, I've got a bag full of dowels handy.

    cheers, Mark.

ID:	25110Tuner is too close to the edge. Due mainly to this I've decided to ditch the 'vintage' tuners and use the kit ones.

Doh!!! Just when I was going to drop a feature somebody chimes in
Andy, I was thinking of just using the 'kit' tuners, however due to your query I gave them another shot.
Both...you poke the string through and then you wind it on.

    cheers, Mark.

Edit: Well the next step was to fit the tuners, bridge and neck so I could put some strings on to check orientation etc...
However thanks to Keith's advice about dodgy neck screw holes, I just bunged 'em up with toothpicks, timbermate and aquadhere.
