Don't get this one-off Korean sample model confused with the GST-1 2-piece body models that are from a new Chinese factory that only makes kit guitars.

Well. We have sanded. We have assessed. We have brooded. We have fallen in love with the natural look of the timber grain.
So to clears we go. I shall pictorially update once it is clear that whether or not I have cocked this up completely.

So Frankie, what is Igor’s thoughts on the size of your head? ;-D I see everyone else is “clearly” happy with the color choice.
But anywho, how does the Korean kit stand up to the regular PB kits? It looks really nice.

Igor wanted to graft on an LP/prs hybrid head, my version of sanity prevailed.

The routing is still a little rough in places but generally a better finish. The sanded finish of the body is a better standard than the standard PBG kits. The two piece construction is fantastic, the matching creates a cool grain effect and the wood itself feels less coarse, if that makes sense.
The finish of the neck was wonderful, the shaft felt about 320 grit finished, while the paddle stock was possibly 80 -100ish in finish feel. The wonderful part was the fretboard, a beautiful piece of Ebony with some lighter grain highlight throughout a very dark base colour.
The fretwork is excellent, no hint of sharp edges or rough tops. No lifted or unseated frets at all.

On the whole, I feel it justified the money, but I also understand that if PBG were to make money on it, it might push the kit price beyond a practical point for the average builder.

So, yeah. Really happy I didn’t experiment with stain washes to grain pop.

This is two coats of gloss rust-o-leum over 800 grit sand down, no other prep at all.
