    First Ever Build!

    Hey all,

Just received my strat kit with gold hardware

Looking forward to doing this up.

also considering scalloping the neck and adding a phase switch.

    Anyone here done either?

    Nice choice of guitar!
I did scallop my bass neck (imprecision bass in my signature) above the 15th, but that was ages ago. I believe I used a half round file followed by sandpaper, the art is not scraping the frets of course!

Have you played a scalloped neck, I recommend you do before you get too carried away.

One of my mates has a collection of very nice guitars and one is a custom shop scalloped Strat and to be honest I really didn't like it, it was far too easy to bend notes out of tune when fretting particularly chords.

As an aside, said mate is a left handed drummer who can't play a note and has many thousands of dollars worth of right handed guitars and basses hanging on the walls of his music room

Being a drummer means of course he's 'accompanied' country music all his life

    cheers, Mark.

Almost correct, Rob Bailey ( bass player on AC/DC first album ) described Perky's playing as sounding like he was building a chook shed.

Just finished staining the neck and burning the design into the headstock. decided to stain the neck with a mixture of tea and coffee for an old look. what do you all suggest i do to get that clear glossy finish
