Man, you gotta love that gloss! Very nice John.

Now... weird question time... What's that metal tag under the saddles of the strat? It's got some printing on it. What's it for?

Looks like a dog tag to me, so probably there to give the pickups a bit more bark and bite.
I think an inanimate object to raise the saddles as a whole. Who's turn next?
My old mate Stu (RIP) used to be a pro touring guitarist in the 60s and 70s, and his old Strat had a bit of cardboard fitted in the same place, as a quick fix to raise the action that was fitted by his mate Eric Bell of Thin Lizzy. It had been there for years and he never got round to removing it and have the bridge set up correctly in several decades of use.
The cardboard would also stop any potential buzz from the saddle height adjustment screws. Would that be a solution for Groovyman32?

Simon, now you've done it!
You've given away Stu's "tone secret" now everybody will be doing it!
Of course then all the forums will be filled with arguments over which is the best tone cardboard!

I know it was from a cigarette packet, but not which brand.
And of course it was vintage cardboard, so no new cardboard could ever sound the same.
I've got some "authentic" '72 re-issue cardboard, if anybody needs it, at reasonable cost. Also available in a relic finish to deliver that authentic aesthetic as well as that '70s tone, for a moderate premium.
Does it smell like cigarettes?
