    Hi from Melbourne

    Hi folks

First timer here. Ive been looking at kits for a while now so much so that my wife was probably getting sick of hearing about the kits i was most interested in and how i was putting away cash each week to get my hands on one.

So on Christmas morning we opened presents at home with our daughter then shortly after we went to my wife's parents house to exchange presents all over again.

I was very happy to unwrap a JMA-1 kit that my wife and her parents had gone halves in and it was totally unexpected.
Im really looking forward to making a start on it but i need to set myself up a bit better in terms of a workspace and a few more basic tools.
I also look forward to being able to draw on a wealth of knowledge and experience here.

    Cheers and Merry Christmas
    Russ

    Thanks for the welcome
I have always liked offset guitars theres something about the shape that appeals to me.
Being my first kit ill certainly have plenty of questions I'm sure.
I'm not in a hurry to finish it and i have plenty of time up my sleeve at the moment so i plan on taking my time and not rushing my build.
I have had a look at some other members builds and I'm pretty impressed with the end results that they achieved so theres plenty of inspiration to go on.
I plan on staining and not painting i don't want to cover the nice grain in the body but ill cover that when i start a build diary.
Thanks again for the encouragement and welcome.

    Cheers
    Russ

Welcome aboard, good kit to start with - my first was a JMA, you can see some of the issues I worked through in the thread in my signature

It's ended up a nice guitar - a bit heavy for my liking, probably not helped by the amount of shielding I did, but it's totally silent when plugged into an amp which is nice.

Keep the pics coming and have fun!
    Build 1 - Shoegazer MK1 JMA-1
    Build 2 - The Relliecaster TL-1
Build 3 - The Black Cherry SG AG-1
    Build 4 - The Sonicaster TL-1ish
    Build 5 - The Steampunker Bass YB-4
    Build 6 - The Howling Gowing ST-1

    Hey Sonic
Your JMA was the first i happened to stumble upon when i was searching for JMA builds. I really like what you did with it.
So far i haven't seen any similar problems to what you encountered but then again i haven't gone over it super closely yet either but from what i have seen so far with my kit i think i've been pretty lucky with not to many issues or blemishes to put extra work into.
