    Alex's IB-7

Kit delivered today! Did a dry build just then. Neck, pickups, tuning pegs all seem to fit well.

Never done one of these before so hopefully it'll go OK lol.

Not really planning on doing any modifications. Just wanting to do something nice and simple~

Take it slow, don't rush. If unsure, ask. Good luck.

I'm just impressed with anyone that can make any sense of 7 strings, I moved from 4 to 6 a few years ago, and I'm still confused!

Thanks! Will do. Reading the manual right now, I'm sure I'll have lots of question

Hahahaha, I'm sure it'll take me a while to get used to it!

Got a question. The manual says:

The bridge needs to be situated so the saddles are at a position that allows them to be
adjusted for setting the intonation later, so set the saddles to the middle of their adjustment
and check that it is approximately at the end of your scale length.
What does it mean to "set the saddles to the middle of their adjustment"? (I'm not even sure what a saddle is on a Floyd Rose bridge). This is a pic of my bridge.

Hi Alex, the saddle is the part of the bridge that the strings rest on, there are 7 total, one for each string so they can move forward and backwards to achieve intonation. If set in the middle then you have an option to move them toward or away from the nut. Intonation is the last stage of the setup so ask about that later. Basically if it is intonated the 12th fret string is pressed it will be perfectly in tune

EDIT Snap Franky just pipped you haha

Hi Alex. The saddle is the bit that the string passes through and over as it heads out of the bridge towards the neck.
on the floyd trems you adjust its position forward or backwards by loosening that allen head screw on the baseplate and shifting the entire assembly in the required direction, then locking the screw back down.

All the manual is saying is that the sadddles should be moved somewhere near the middle of the available adjustment you have on those allen screws. Your bridge shows there is a fair staggering of the saddles, you want to move them into a line, more or less across the middle of the adjustment range.

Make sense? or have I just confused the issue?

EDIT: Beaten to the punch by a very succinct Wokka!

I know I keep saying that I think I'll get an SG kit next, but actually I keep coming back to these - there's something so great about the shape of the body, and the look of the black p/u's and tailpiece. I dunno how I'd go with seven strings, but I guess it's a good excuse to learn some Meshuggah (...or do they play eight strings?). Super keen to watch this come together
