    TV Yellow

    Hey All.

I've been lurking here for a while. After building a kit from elsewhere, I am hooked. My plan is to get a PBG kit soon.

I really want to do a guitar in a "TV Yellow" finish like the old Gibsons. I love the DC LP Jrs like below.

Is there a Dingotone stain that will get me close?

Hi Churchie welcome to the forum. Dingobass can mix you up a similar yellow, it would be a bit darker than Butterscotch, see link
    https://www.pitbullguitars.com/shop/...-butterscotch/
If you want the same look as the picture you will need to use solid paint as the stains you will see the grain of the timber so it will be translucent
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

    Thanks.

That pic is maybe not the best. The Gibson TV Yellow's really varied. Some really show the grain.

I would like a finish that shows the grain.

My plan is probably to use a darker grainfiller and then use a yellow stain more like the example below

Yep Churchie, it definitely shows the grain, the cool thing about the DT Butterscotch is you can dilute the colour with a white base or not and you can add more stain coats to get it as dark as you want.

I did a semi-sratch tele just in DT butterscotch and was surprised at the result.
