For reference the bridge I ordered is this one...
    http://www.guitarfetish.com/Gold-Bad...dge_p_376.html

So, I was applying clear coats.... Five coats done and for the most part it was going so well until this abomination appeared beside the lower F hole below the neck PU .... To quote a famous Aussie advert line.."Not happy Jan!!!"... I know exactly what I did wrong, and I'm kicking myself for doing it, but now I gotta fix it which will be a challenge in itself...

Only Three coats of Satin poly on the neck has turned out fabulous and is progressing really well... there is a real sense touching wood when holding it.. lots of grip and not sticky...

What happened Andy is I was impatient...

I sprayed the front with the build laying flat on its back... all good...like before I waited 30 mins to let it set then hung the build up on its tail hook and sprayed the back and sides... only this time there must have been a build up or a puddle of clear that hadn't quite set when I hung the build up so when I came back this morning.... Surprise..!!

Maybe I should have waited a few hours instead of only 30 minutes...

What a bugger! There's something to be said about thinner coats.

I'm using Cabot's Cabothane clear poly in 300ml rattle spray cans. Satin on the neck and gloss everywhere else.

Yeah, the front was done a bit thicker on a flat level surface and it would have been okay if I had left it a few hours before hanging the build to do the back and sides. So it's my mistake. 24hrs in and the 'wave' is still soft under a finger nail so I'm guessing at least another 48 to 72hrs before I can even start an attempt on a repair. In some ways I don't feel to bad about it (the wave) as there are other minor blemishes just above the neck that also need fixing which I know would annoy me later if I leave them. The back and sides will get at least one more coat which I think will be enough to give a decent sheen yet still let the texture of the wood grain come through...

Main reason this coat was thicker was to fill some pore holes and wire brush trenches that the earlier coats hadn't. At least now I have a 99% smooth surface on the front that after fixing these annoying problems and a re-coat or two should sand/micro fibre and then polish up quite well.

At least its fixable, looking good though, what is the manufacturers cure time for the poly?
