I really liked the look of the headstock on the Music Man Bongo. The photo I found on the interweb was for a five string head. My kit is a four string. I copied the design as best I could from the photo and then re-sized the design for my headstock. This is not a flat 2D design. There are some compound curves here, but it's not too hard.
To use the template, print out both the top and bottom templates. I glued the templates to the headstock temporarily with some spray glue. This stuff allows you to remove the paper easily later on. Use the tuner holes to align the plans on the headstock.
I did the bulk of the shaping with a coping saw, then used a dremel with a sanding drum to get close to the final shape. Watch out with the dremel, it really bites in hard. I finished off with some sandpaper, first 80 grit, then 180, then 240.
