Oh yeah, I have a wish list for my FrankenLab. It's extensive. And expensive.

I don't think the budget is going to stretch that far Kick! I have a reasonable AEG 1600W unit and a little 400W Ryobi for smaller work, so I'm going to stick with those unless I win a lot of money!

I've used a normal tabletop drill stand to drill nice straight-through holes for a Telecaster bridge. Obviously a tabletop stand doesn't have a very deep throat to it, so I adjusted it so that I actually drilled down through the hole in the base whist resting it on the top (or bottom) of the guitar. Harder to see where the drill is positioned when doing it this way, so you need to take care, but it is do-able and better than drilling by hand.

Yes I have plans afoot for a proper floor mounted pedestal drill, but all I have at this point is a drill guide like this one:Click image for larger version.

It's okay for general stuff but it is very limited, and there is a fair amount of angular play side to side and fore and aft. This is the reason the g string boring went out of line, though it will all be hidden by the anchor plate.

WazKelly Ladies and gentlemen, he's here all week, try the tofu dogs....
At any rate, the FrankenLab got drowned in the sound of routing today.

Bear in mind the entire exercise here is a bit of an experiment. I simply wanted to see if it is possible to mount the pickups with no visible bolts or screws from the face of the guitar. All of the adjustment is going to be from the rear <There you go Waz, another avenue for double entendres awaits>.
There is one more bout of template making to achieve what i am shooting for, and that is a recess to sit the mounting rings for the pick ups themselves and the recess for the cover for the whole thing (for this exercise, both of the rear covers will be black plastic with a satin finish). I think you can kind of see form the photo below what i'm shooting for.
