So this one stalled due to Disasters with stain and disasters with work. While other things are being base coated, sanded and left to cure I finally made some progress with it.
I decided it was no use longing after a drill press, so I made do with my little drill a ma jig thingy and set to work fitting the funky Hannes 6 Schaller Bridge.
It all turned out okay apart from a couple of the Ferrule holes being a wee bit wonky, a product of the wobbly nature of the Drill guide i was using. (Oh for a 1.5 HP 16speed pedestal drill!)
Everything seems to have lined up okay, despite the ferrule holes, and they won't be seen under the string end anchor anyway.
though I will need to do some minor fill work where the router didn't play nice on the anchor recess (Positive abutment stops are much preferred to indicative stops for those playing at home).
The string alignment seems good though i did realise that i hadn't thought about string trees for this one, and I can see i'm definitely going to need them! The scale length 1st -12th match the 12th to Bridge on both E's so Im fairly happy about that.
Now i just need to finish marking out the routs and set up some templates, then punch a bunch of holes in it.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.
Here's hoping the DT behaves itself on this one.

I'm more worried about the drastic body routing i have planned to be honest Waz. All of my issues thus far with the DT have been self inflicted for one reason or another.

Yeah, routers can be scary things. I don't own one but remember using my dad's Black & Decker one when I was a teenager (last century) and had lots of fun but lacked the precision that comes with over exuberant youthfulness.
Could use one on the upcoming MMB build as I need to cut a battery box in the back and will probably just drill multiple holes to the right depth and gently chisel it out instead.

A nice assortment of grain patterns in that body Franken, it should look a treat done nude (and yes I do mean the tele body). I am hearing you about the drill press, I too have been agonising over that purchase for a few months now. I think next weeks pay might have to become a sacrifice to the industrial revolution happening in my shed. Like all your builds I will be watching this one very closely.

It never ends does it, there is always another next toy, God bless it.
A good router is a must have... get the Bosch if the budget allows..
