Well things have progressed faster than anticipated!
As I'm doing this one as more of a nostalgia trip I'm not going to be adding any expensive upgrades. Planning on shielding the cavities, possibly adding the missing string tree on the headstock and having a go at rewiring it so the selector does the same as a real Jem.
So far good. Sand with 240grit, 2 coats Feast Watson sanding sealer, 240 then 400 grit sanding and 3 coats of Feast Watson black stain left over from the RC4A build I'm almost there with.
First cost of Cabothane gloss clear on a nice cool morning. Tend to find I get a nicer finish lying the body down and doing it in 2 halves rather than hanging it and trying to do it all at once. Takes a bit longer, but what's the rush, I've been waiting a quarter century already!

My 90's involved flat topped haircuts, heavy bass lines and politically angry social commentary wrapped in phat beats. Thankfully no spandex involved. (Although there were some embarrassing episodes with coloured suits and parachute pants, but no one needs to relive that visual horror)

Luckily never did the spandex. Never had the figure for it. Still don't. Did have a lot of hair though. Miraculously I still have some left, albeit about 3 foot shorter...

Well the body is painted. Feast Watson black 3 coats followed by 8 thin coats of Cabothane clear poly. Cut back and polished. I like the way the grain can be seen through the clear in full daylight, in shadow it simply looks black. Came out ok, but I'm having the devils own job of getting the tiny scratches out of the clear coat. Goes with the territory with poly I guess, gotta keep polishing!
