Stain has taken to the left piece of wood better than the rest but i guess not much i can do about that.

This is the headstock after the first intensifying coat. As you can see i have gotten some of the stain on the fretboard!! Anyone any ideas of how to fix this? or should i just put a thin layer across the whole fretboard?

Looking like some crazy good grain in that body. As for the stain on the fretboard - gently scrape the blade of a razor blade at 90 degrees to the wood. See Dingobass' post in here... http://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au...ght=razorblade - that may take it off. After that I'd tape up with some painter's tape to minimise any possible future mishaps.

Edit - BTW - loving the colour.

Lovin that grain! Do you have to plug the holes for the stoptail before fixing that bigsbyish trem or does it cover the holes?

Looks great mate, were you going to shape the headstock? if so I'd do it before staining as you may need to stain the top of it.

The "bigbyish" trem fits perfect into the holes, just need to drill in one hole for the back of it!
I'm liking the headstock the way it is. Shaping it is maybe a bit too advanced for me at the minute....next build maybe.
Thanks for the advance on the fretboard. I'll get scraping tomorrow!

i got that "bigsby" off a chinese store on ebay for around 30 dollars. i was dubious about getiing it but it is actually really solid and looks decent. im not gona lie, it is mainly for asthetics, i rarely use a trem.

Also thanks Brendan (and dingobass) for the advice to scrape the fretboard to get the stain off

A before and after. I got enough off to please me but i was scared to over do it and dig into it too much...
you can see a bit of difference between the first and second intensifying coats of dingotone on the headstock too.

These two dings magically appeared. not sure how they got there, i mustn't have noticed them at the start. not sure if anything can be done with them...gives the guitar character eh...

Just put the first final coat on. The sun is out in windy lancelin so hopefully i can put the next one on in 48 hours.

Did a quick mock build before putting on the final coat. i am liking it so far. although fuzzbeard i think i may have to do something with a hole or 2 to make the trem align ok, but im not worrying about that just yet.
