    Flipping Bass Tuners

Not sure how common knowledge this little trick is, but damn is it handy. Did you know that you can change the "handedness" of a open gear style bass tuner?

Well, you can, and it's easy peasy. Super useful if you are doing a 3+1 headstock, you can only find a set of 4 in line when you need 2x2 or vice versa, or you need lefty and can only find righties!

Let's start with a right aligned tuner.

Unscrew the bolt and break it down to it's individual components.

Replace the post in the desired orientation.

Replace the spring steel retainer, making sure it's curved outwards.

    Reassemble the shaft and gear.

And, hey presto! We have a left handed tuner!

Now, this will most likely work for most open gear style tuners (depending on construction), but I have also found out that Sperzel guitar tuners will also flip! Awesome!

Will need to test out some other brands too.

Nice one Pabs, but where were you when I was changing my MMB from 4 inline to 3x1 lol. Oh well, good information for future builds.

    Thanks for posting mate.

No Warren, I bought a cheap 4x1 set. I figure I might need some more tuners some time.

When you buy this stuff from China it's usually not that much more to buy extras. I am assembling quite a stockpile of odd bits and pieces. Lol
