I'm just wondering if I should submit my HotRod Strat build, is it even eligible for entry?, I built it using a body which I got Adam to order as a custom order, the neck is a Mighty Mite 22 Fret Maple Neck with a Rosewood Fingerboard, all the hardware and electronics are parts I ordered online from Realtone Music, but I assembled the guitar myself, and yes, the guitar is fully set-up and playable, I did all the set-up work on it myself, including all the soldering.

    What do you guys reckon?

I'd say it qualifies. If it's not all-Pit Bull, then it's a mongrel and must fit in this section.

Okay, here's my submission, this is my 80's Hot Rod Strat build which I recently completed, I tried to take some better pics, and this is the best I could manage with my Nikon Coolpix A100 Digital Camera:

The body finish is two coats of Grey Rust-Oleum Primer, with about three coats of Dulux Dura Max Dark Metallic Blue spray paint, I haven't used any clear coating because I'm planning on spraying some more coats of Dark Metallic blue on the body at a later stage.

By the way, this is the very first time I have ever submitted anything, I'm just glad that one of my builds is getting some exposure.

The body is Maple (I think), or it could be Ash, it was a custom Pitbull Guitars order, the neck is a Mighty Mite 22 Fret Maple with a Rosewood Fretboard, I bought it on eBay a couple of years ago, the double-locking trem is a Chrome-Plated Schaller Lockmeister which I bought online from RealTone Music, all the other bits of hardware, except for the 5-way selector switch, and all the electronics, were also bought from Realtone Music, I did all the spray-painting of the body, and also the assembly and setup too, the guitar plays pretty well and I have managed to get the action fairly low and buzz-free all the way up the neck, no fret-leveling work has been done on the neck, since I don't have any of the needed tools, I may do it at a later stage, but for now, I'm happy with it the way it is.

The guitar has a couple of Ernie Ball Strap-Locks installed, I bought them from my local Pro Music shop.

    Pickups are:

Neck: Kent Armstrong Dual Blade Single-Coil sized Humbucker.

Middle: Kent Armstrong Dual Blade Single-Coil sized Humbucker.

    Bridge: Tonerider Rocksong Full-Sized Humbucker.

Here's a link to a sound demo of the guitar in action:

Note that I intended this guitar to be a workhorse instrument for gigging with, hence the reason for the way it currently looks, but, I might give it more of a glossy finish at a later date, I'm really liking the way the finish turned out so far, it turned out better than I expected given the amount of trouble I had with the Gold Strat finish, incidentally, I will see if I can get the Gold Strat finished next year because I think I can salvage it.

Good stuff Doc. Looks great and sound demos showed off how sweet your choice of PUP's turned out to be.

Cheers mate, I was a bit worried that the new pickups weren't going to sound good, given that they are relatively inexpensive (the Kent Armstrongs were only Au$55.00 each, and the Tonerider Rocksong was only about Au$60.00) but as I found out, they sounded better than I expected, I'll post a link to the demo in my previous post with the pics of the guitar, just so that the judges don't have to go looking for it, I bet they'd appreciate me making their job easier.

    Gav's Burley 335

    hi guys,
Here is my 335 from A DIY kit. It's got a burled maple veneer and sounds amazing. I have a very thin finish on it and this thing twangs like you wouldn't believe. I've got GFS pickups (Dream 180s) as well as an xTrem and roller bridge. Amazingly, with just the xTrem and roller bridge, tuning stability is really great. Anyway here she is.
