    It only clicked with me a while ago, the Moderne is a V you can play sitting down!!! I kinda dig them, in an oddball fashion, but I would never want to own one.

    It's kind of hard to believe that the Explorer, Flying V and Moderne were all designed and originally released in the '50s (except the Moderne, which didn't make it off the drawing board until it was "re-released" in the '80s. And they all flopped as well, which is why Gibson brought a car designer in to make the Firebird to replace them.

    I always thought the raised section on the 'Birds had traces of Harley tank/instrument cluster design in it. Shame they didn't call Harley Earl in we would have had streamliners! or Virgil Extner for some serious fins LOL

    It was actually a guitar that a UK guitar magazine had made up as a April fools story in the 90's, I think Kramer made a few after some people asked about it.
