hmmm ok so here is the body after:

    -sanding 320 grit

-applying timbermate walnut slurry with black ink added

*I'm seeing the same problem I had with my first build. I don't want to go through the veneer. I'm still letting it dry though.

Is it meant to look like this?

....i'm thinking maybe the slurry was too viscous ?

Light sanding with 320 grit, trying not to go through the veneer...

Hey Alkay, wow the lighter area in the middle is now darker, looks pretty cool. I suggest you don't do any more sanding on the veneer I'd say it will be getting thin in some areas.

Thanks wokkaboy, Unfortunately the sanding isn't too even with the lighter and darker patches.
I've been able to lift some of the black out by wetting some tissues and rubbing them over body. This seems to be working and is a bit safer than going through the veneer.

    cheers,

    Alkay

Ok, so here is an updated picture. I haven't done anymore sanding. I kept lifting the black out with some wet tissues and letting it dry in the sunlight. I'm trying to achieve a more even coating over the body instead of these darker patches.

I'll keep doing this unless anyone else has a better suggestion? (At least I can't do too much damage at this stage hahaha).

Ok so I still haven't sanded anymore. I've just used a wet tissue to try and remove the excess black areas.

I don't know if the photo's are showing the difference, but here is another.

I've decided I'm going to do a deep mahogany water based stain for the body face, sides, back, neck and headstock instead of cedar unless anyone has a better idea?
I just think on this build I should try to keep it simple and get the basics given the last one.

Also, you will notice a piece of the tuning hardware missing(past the bridge) on the body after doing the mock build. I'm not sure how to remove these after a mock build and obviously I damaged it.

So if PBG can sell me a black one that would be great?

Just a little bit of input would be appreciated before I dive into the next part. Thanks for your help so far everyone. I'm learning allot through reading these forums.

    Cheers,

    Alkay

    Alkay,

Send Adam a PM to see if he has a stoptail bushing (mounting post bushing) spare somewhere.

Otherwise, if you have the mounting post that screws into the bushing, check the diameter of one of these to your hole. http://www.realparts.com.au/bridge-p...set-black.html

or order the full Stoptail piece
