that's weird Alkay, so is the perpendicular line below your finger a join in the timber or a line where you stopped sanding ?

my guess is the TO didn't cure properly, still waiting to hear how long you let it cure before sanding

EDIT just read your edited post so Saturday was the last coat, you need to wait at least a week probably 2 weeks in winter before wet sanding. Where do you live Alkay ?

DB's rule is let any finish cure for minimum 3 weeks before wet sanding and polishing

my guess is the tru oil maybe hadn't fully cured
    Hi wokkaboy,

I uploaded a better image so you can see. What do you think I should do to fix this?

Hi Alkay, if it's just that small section you have wet sanded and the stain is ok I'd apply maybe 2 -3 coats of TO on just that area. Let that cure a few days, then think best you go over the whole body with one or 2 more coats of TO. I'd guess you have pretty well sanded off most of the TO coats in that area, so need to build up that area first.

It's a join in the timber and also where I sanded from towards the neck pocket(about 110mm).

Ok bummer, I got confused. I thought I wait three weeks before applying the Meguiars ultimate compound.

I'm in country VIC near the Grampians about 3 hours drive west of Melbourne.

OK noted again, haha. I'll get there one day haha.

So what is your recommendation? I'd rather not sand the whole body back and risk more issues.

    Cheers,

    Alkay.

Ok great, just missed this post. I'll try that and then not do anything for three weeks apart from look at it

Hi Alkay, it should be ok to continue with your TO coats. It's just wet sanding and polishing you should let it cure for 2-3 weeks.
As I said last post start building up the area that you wet sanded, then one or 2 coats over the whole body, then 2-3 weeks curing.
Can you look at wiring or the neck while you wait ?

Ok great I'll do that. Yes I guess I can do the wiring which I'm dreading haha. Last build if you read was a disaster. It worked but now it doesn't at all.

The neck has similar issues too but I'll upload a picture of that in about an hour. Just going to the blue shed to get some wood cut and I'll be back here soon.

    Cheers,
    Alkay.

Alkay, you can solder the 4 wires to the switch, remember to run the switch wires to the control cavity BEFORE you mount the pickups, I forget to do this and have to remove the pups to feed the switch wires.
You can solder some of the pots and get the hot and earth wires soldered to the jack.
Will have a look at the neck issues when you post it.

    Thanks wokkaboy,
I made this mistake too on my last build.

Here's some images of the neck with similar issues. You can notice on the corners I have over sanded. I was thinking of sanding back to the wood and staining again to cover up those lighter parts:

Over sanded on the corners here and lost the cedar stain.

Hi Alkay, yes I agree think it's worth sanding back the neck and re-staining. Looks like there is tru oil on the neck ?

While you are doing that be a good chance to shape the top of the headstock.
