Time to lower the control cavity floor under the oversized push pull switch...



Tested everything outside the body and seemed to work but once I screwed down control plate the Bridge PUP Volume Control no longer works? Probably pinched a wire and will have to dive in again to sort that out some other day.

Posted the wiring diagram for anybody wanting to have a go as it does make a significant difference and produces another very useable phat sound.

Once the Bridge Volume control has been rectified may get around to doing a sound demo video.

I'm guessing that either one of the solder lugs on the volume pot is shorting-out to the copper foil shielding, or, the bridge pickup is shorting-out to ground somewhere when you screw down the control plate, you can fix that by putting some electrical tape on the shielding, hope that helps.

Thanks Doc. Probably a dodgy earth wire somewhere and hopefully easy to find and fix.

Nice texture on the body at the grain, I guess you did not use pore filler, did you?

Hi Lappa, i did use a pore filler....ebony Timber Mate which is a water based product.
The red inks were also water based and once stain coats dried the grain filler shrunk back in on itself creating the contoured look by accident.
I liked the effect and chose to keep it that way rather than go for a glassy smooth finish.

Aha, thank you for the explanation!!! Interesting! I did not think pore filler could shrink that much. Nice effect and texture there!

4 and half years later......here are some shots to show how the natural TO ageing effect has turned out.

Quite noticeable on the maple neck & fretboard and now and really nice deep & rich colour.....


Different light and backgrounds throws up a differing depth of colour.
