Nice Colour Waz, Not used printer dyes before.
Hi Kimball, my first attempt and was worried at first that it would be too dark. Left it for 24 hours then wiped down with a damp cloth that took a lot of residue and colour off but had to take it back anyways to deal with unidentified glue spots. The Goof Off also stripped some of the colour too. Applied same mix which was 2 parts ink to 1 part water, left it for another 24 hours and then gave a light 0000 steel wool scuff sand all over which really did the trick without removing too much colour. Pics to follow tomorrow.
Thanks Tony. Luckily the glue spots came out pretty easy except for a couple that required the wire brush too. Checked it out thoroughly before any sanding and applied plenty of Goof Off all over the top before applying the stain. With caps so thin you cannot afford to sand very much or risk going through it.
Looks like the bridge PUP route is spot on which is a bonus as I have read threads where many others have been out by around 5 mm on average. Very pleased and relieved about that.
Uploaded lots of photos. Hard to capture the exact colour of this beauty and used several locations, indoors, outdoors with no sunlight, and then full sunlight with a couple of different camera settings. These are the shots of the neck & headstock shaping done after work one night earlier in the week.
