I persevered with the rolling pin ....trying to square it up was a right royal PITA as whatever this wood is it's really hard and took ages to cut through

I've cut out the needed neck heel extensions for both the ES-3 and ES-1 builds, plus the extension that will run down the side.
The two heel extensions have just been glued and clamped a few minutes ago, so once they are dry I'll shape them and use some filler if needed to get it smooth [I've got more than enough saw dust to mix with timbermate to do that ]

Mate, anagote timbers in marrickville are really good for guitar/instrument woods. They are really helpful and have a great scraps bin for small bits.

They were a great help when i needed similar assistance. I still have maple scraps lying around from doing the neck heel on my EXA if the palm wood goes south on you.

    Es-3 Update 7

    Hey,

6 coats later with the wudtone custom finish and we have this.

i also just finished scraping the binding. first time but i feel the lines came out very crisp and clean. started out drawing my blade towards me. ends up pushing the blade away from me and got a cleaner line that way….probably just personal preference.

next is the high gloss with ageing top coat. probably 4-5 coats with 1 week in between each coat.

then time to set the neck….

    cheers,
