I sanded the neck down again and then stained with orange. Then came the Tung Oil, eight coats. But I didn't like the sheen it gave so I switched to Tru Oil which gave a better shine. And the effect on the neck was just what I was looking for.

I didn't like the black scratch guard or truss cover so I purchased some stuff and made my own. Added a decal to the scratch plate and the neck and things are starting to look okay

The bees and paraffin wax arrived today so Ill be doing the pots and then starting the wiring. I decided to bin the supplied wiring and go for silver braided shield, Cloth covered wire which will help to reduce hum. A friend of mind said if the bees wax stops humming does it produce Buzzing!!!

Yes real problem. Tried sanding but it wouldn't go away. I was afraid of going to far and sanding through the binding and the body. So I'm happy with the way it turned out. The odd blemish gives the vintage look.😊😊

Well, done the wiring only to find when I fitted it all into the guitar
1 the threads on the jack socket are not deep enough to put the nut on.
2 the pickup wire is too short to reach the pots.
So, can I extend the wire on each pickup or do I have to somehow re wire the pickups?
I guess my real question is why are the wires too short? Quality control??

No worries with soldering some wire the the pup wires, just use some heat shrink to insulate each wire.
With the output jack, it sounds like you might have an extra thick top... Easiest work around is to source another jack with a longer thread...

Are both pickup leads too short? The neck pup lead is usually longer than the bridge as it has a longer run to the controls.

My other question is. Is there any difference between the two pickups apart from one has a yellow wire and one a red wire.
Really could have done with some good instructions for this model of guitar. The one supplied is for solid guitsrs
