    Brendan's TLA-1

    Scored a slightly dented TLA-1 as a special recently. Service was fantastic - ordered Sunday - delivered Tuesday morning. Can't ask for more than that.

    Overall the damage is fairly minor - looks like a chip out of the bottom bout.

    Looks like a couple of options:
    * Sand it out;
    * Fill and solid colour (at least on the edge) or
    * Bind the edge with enough binding to remove the chip.

    Not sure what to do at this stage, but leaning towards sanding it out.

    Overall plans - not totally certain, but likely au natural with a black pickguard to complement a couple of basses I have - alternatively - dark brown from some runout Wudtone. Thinking to upgrade bridge (maybe Joe Barden), electronics (Bournes and Orange Drops) and recess the jack. Would like to upgrade the pups as well as I think this may be a player, but could do that later once I start playing .

    Fill and solid colour mate....too much of a ding for binding to conceal. But once filled some binding might look pretty cool!

    I think it looks worse than it is - length is around 18mm width and depth are about 3.5mm each. Seems to be at about 45 deg, but a bit rough - may sand out fine - just need to alter the chamfer a bit around the edge of the guitar.

    Forgot to add a fourth option:
    * Bargeloobs it - take the tele and reshape to something entirely cool.

    Also contemplating string through - never done it before and I think it looks cool...

    Can't bring myself to solid it - the grain is just too nice - though maybe black to brown burst ....

    I'm with the Gavmiester on this one.
    Sand it out and get some luscious curves happening on this beastie.

    There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

    I think I will - if I knock ~2mm off the bottom and top bouts, I reckon it'll be pretty much gone and no one will know the difference... Add a belly curve and I think I'll have done my sanding quota for a while...
