    Fret Ruler

    In this thread:

The guru's talk about a fret ruler Pabs makes.

I see what it looks like, but I am a little confused as to its exact purpose.

Is it designed to get the fretboard dead straight before tweaking?

Or is there a higher purpose?

yes, it is slotted and goes over the frets and sits flat on the fret board - for ensuring a flat fret board

Nah mate, you got it. When leveling frets, it is important to start with the fingerboard dead straight and because the frets might not be even, using an ordinary straight edge on top of the frets isn't anywhere near as accurate.

Rabbitz a cheap easy way is to buy a 600mm straight edge rule from the green shed and grind notches in it for your frets. Gets it pretty dam close.
