Hey guys I'm in the process of finishing my bass and I've put down my first coat of poly. Waited a day and have now started sanding but once I start sanding it the coat starts to go all weird and waxy and discoloured. I was wondering if any one could help me out with this? Is it normal or has something gone wrong? Etc thanks
The wipe-on poly I use, Minwax oil based wipe on poly gloss finish, says a minimum of 48hours before you begin the finish. I normally leave it for 7 days after I have put the last coat upon the guitar. Then you can wetsand, auto cut compound etc.
makes sense Ozz to be on the safe side during winter.

Sprayed 7th coat of lacquer last night and sanded back to smooth this morning, will probably do one more final coat before cutting back. 4 day job from start to finish, ni ni ni ni ni tro:-)
