Thread: JM 1 Wiring Help

  1. #11
Here are some photos of what appears to be the "new" wiring on the JM-1 kits. As Weirdbits noted, these colours are always subject to change, depending on what colour wires the factory has on hand at the time of production.

To match the above batch of wiring colours:

Tone 2 (yellow) = Bridge, Tone 1 (green) = Middle and Neck, Volume (blue), Ground (purple)

(there are other ways to configure the tone controls, depending on what you want)

Thanks Weirdy, "Above and Beyond" as usual.

Brendan is going to update the diagram to match the new colours and make it more straightforward for those less experience in wiring (myself included).
    Cheers,

    Adam

Hi Gibson.Fender, looks like you just need to connect the loose wires from the volume pot, tone 1 and tone 2 to the switch, as shown in the diagram above posted by Weirdbits.
So looking at your first picture, from left to right on the control plate is volume, tone 1, tone 2 and output jack.
You will have to run a common earth wire from the tremelo claw and solder to the casing of the volume pot.
All the other connections appear to be done

Looks like the colours have been switched around. Using Weirdy's pic substitute blue (in the pic) for green (yours), green(pic) for purple(yours), yellow(pic) for blue(yours) and purple(pic) for yellow(yours).

Hi Sean, yes looks like the black wire is the earth wire. Looks like its soldered to the back of tone pot 2 ?
The earth wire goes through a hole to tremelo cavity and there should be a little hook on the tremelo spring claw to solder this to

As Pablo has said, the wire colours are different so substitute the colours
