Okay, so, the beast has been finished for a little while, but I was so pissed off with the experience, and distracted by what else was going on in my life, that I didn't bother to tell you guys about it. I still have a bit of "sitar" buzz on the B-G higher strings, but I'm otherwise very happy with the result. Plays better than the Yellow Peril!

Hardware is stock. Plays beautifully. Nice easy action, standard Strat sounds. I have it going through a Roland Street Cube, with the digital amp emulators, so I can get a really good range of sounds out of it. Very happy with the result. The unhappiness referred to above was in two parts - first I had a number of scratchplate screw heads screw right off, and so had to save up for the StewMac tool to recover them and sort it out. Once I had that done, I finished the job but discovered some terrible ground fault, and put it aside for a few months because I was just annoyed. When I did my fault-finding properly it turned out I'd simply wired the output jack backwards. *sigh*
Colour is Feast Watson black stain, sanded back so that it was only in the grain, then StewMac blue dye over the top, diluted with water, otherwise it's too dark. Wudtone gloss finish on the body, Wudtone gloss neck finish on the neck.
Great finish! Love that grain pop.
