    won GOTM that is ).

    cheers,
    Gav.
Haha I chuckled Gav, seriously man I'd be happy to just finish it close to how it looks in my head without any major disasters, that'll do me just fine :-)

Also I stumbled across this Merle Haggard Tele the other day I decided I had to try this on the back so I went an ordered a really nice piece of tube quilted maple that should hopefully do the job nicely, god I hope I'm not getting in over my head...

    Coming along nicely, Bargey.

Where'd you order your quilted maple from? I wouldn't mind knowing of a supplier or two, just for future reference.

Yeah man, this is his ebay store here http://stores.ebay.com.au/Guitarwood...p2047675.l2563

I just P.M'd him with the specs I needed and he hooked me up no worries.

He's a luthier named Barry Kerr, got some jaw droppingly stunning guitars on his site here... http://www.woodtoneguitars.com/

    "Woodtone" believe it or not

    Awesome, thanks mate.

Turns out I've bid on some of his items before. But if I can custom order, that's even better. What sort of prices are we talking, if you don't mind my asking?

Those 'Woodtone' guitars are fantastic too. Incredible craftsmanship.

@ wokka, I just used my little coping saw with a 6mm blade for the horn then cleaned it up with emery paper but I don't really fancy doing the back of the body by hand. I think the jigsaw should hopefully give us a nice square cut.

@brodie, just as an example, the piece of maple veneer I ordered was 2 x 100 x 410mm and that came to $20 delivered. Apart from the tube quilt he also has bigleaf and rock available. All in all I thought it was pretty reasonable really.

thats pretty good value Barge, so presume this is a 2mm thick veneer you will sink this into the back of the body in the centre like the photo you posted ?

Yeah that's the plan wokks, I'm still a bit iffy on how to go about routing the neck pocket end as I'll have nothing for the router to sit flat on if you know what I mean.

yeah I know what you mean Barge, it won't be an easy job at all. DB might have a safer method of making a 2mm deep channel for the veneer at the neck end. Possibly very careful use of a smallish chisel but I wouldn't want to stuff up !

    Phwoar! Not bad at all!

I'll definitely hit him up if I ever want an awesome veneer then.
