Thread: ES 175 Kit?

  1. #11
Hey WierdBits, did you see the image on the site? It's basically an ES-1G with a single cutaway. I've asked them if they can supply some extra tailpieces and the wooden bridges and waiting for a response.

It will be $239 for the standard kit, with a Tune-o-matic bridge, then hopefully we'll have some Trapeze bridge upgrades. I'll let you know.
    Cheers,

    Adam

The demo image is why I was asking, as it makes it look like a semi-hollow with fixed mount bridge and stop tail, rather than a hollow body with wood mount bridge and trapeze. Just wondering... still already placed my order.

    Hi guys,

Looking at the image and the stats on the product page there are a couple of things that jump out. Firstly, the guitar is a semi hollow and has the same depth as a 335 and LP. This is not the depth of a full hollow ES175. Secondly, it has the same radius as a 335 (72x60) which is 10cm wider than a LP. Having said this, if you compare the images of the 335 and the ES-1G, the ES-1G looks more like an LP in the body size than a 335. It's possible that the image is a mockup built from an original image of an LP, or that the stats are a little off making the final kit closer to an LP florentine than an ES-175. Personally I would love to see a florentine offered - I know of only one other supplier (only in the US and boutique at that!) that offers a florentine as a kit. Either way, it is going to be one sweet kit and it is already on my short list. 8-)

    Cheers,
    Gavin.

Self-delusion aside, this (below) would be my ideal outcome for a 175 kit build: fat, hollow, floating bridge with trapeze, natural style finish. As such, holes for a stop tailpiece on the kit would be problematic.

Now we just need Adam to make it happen... no pressure

(I suspect fitting the 3-way toggle switch to these kits will make wiring an ES-1G look easy)

Now that is a beautiful looking guitar! I dont think it is outside the possibilities of some of the guys here, and an aftermarket tail piece...

Beautiful example of the species .

Wierdy: Wiring is actually much easier with these guys because the hollowbody allows you to get at everything through the pickup holes and there is plenty of body depth for things to move around easily! No need to work everything through those tight F(ing)-holes! Much easier all-round than the 335, although double the surface area to finish!

    cheers,
    Gavin.

If it's a true hollowbody, I agree. But, if the kit is a semi like Adam's demo image then we will have to use the upper f-hole to insert the switch and wrangle its wire(s) back down through the hole in the neck pup cavity to meet up with everything else via the lower f-hole. Should be fun.

God, yes you are right! Routing extra shielded cable through the pickup cavity will be a nightmare.. 8O

I did say "late September early October" so, if Quarantine weren't being so pedantic I would have been spot on. These kits look great. Check 'em out: http://pitbullguitars.com/?product=p...ric-guitar-kit

Edit: Is it just me, or does that look like an extra thick cap?
    Cheers,

Ok, one more thing to add about these ES-2 kits...

I ordered these kits without the bridge posts drilled and ordered Tune-O-Matic bridges and some wooden bridges with a Trapeze stop tail. So, if you order one, let us know (in the "Notes" section) which bridge you would prefer. If you have backordered one, expect an email asking the same question.
    Cheers,

    Adam
