Yes, that sounds correct. The cavity wire could go to any grounding point (but using the bridge ground/spring claw is possibly easiest).

A wire goes to the claw to ground the strings via the springs and moving bridge, another ground connection should link to your cavity shielding, and all these ground wires usually meet at a single point (like the back of a pot) and then have a single connection to the ground tab on your output jack.
Scott.
Basically you are just building a Faraday cage for the control circuit.

Hmmm. 4m of snail and slug barrier was just short of completing the job. Is almost finished good enough? Or should I buy another packet for about 20cm x 1cm which hasn’t quite folded over onto the face of the body and the 1cm x 3cm gap?

Anyhow, went back to the store and purchased the last box of copper tape to finish it off. Soldered it all together, multi meter confirms it’s all joined up.

Finished in a personal best record time. It’s been a fun kit to build. I don’t know what it would have been like without the shielding, but the only noise I hear is a very quiet hum if the volume pot is dialled to 10. All that’s left to do is to set up the action, intonation and then it will be ready to give away. I never knew I wanted a purple strat in my life, but I kind of like it. After all, I don’t have any single coil guitars. Happy building, folks!
