Yep, the DHL service I got was great, but it was a bit dearer.

Regarding extra taxes, anything over $AUD1000 can attract attention on import.

I think you'll find its anything over $$$ much less these days due to the fact that there was so much coming in from online sellers for less than $1K.

Pretty sure it happened sometime in the last 9 years to satisfy the wishes of a certain furniture & electronics store owner

Just adding to the conversation, (knowing OP has found a solution), always discuss whether a seller can not claim taxes as it is going to export. Anderson's is good that way on their exports.

total shipping costs door to door. It was a 43 year old guitar so value didn't involve any duties
