    TD's STA-1HT

    Another work project.
I have just completed a STA-1HT kit. All stock parts. Body has been finished with 1 coat of ebony Timbermate to highlight the grain, stained with red ink, and finished with Tru-oil coats, light sanding etc. I have tried to get a textured finish with the grain. The logo is a vinyl sticker cut with a Cricut Joy. The "serial' on the back of the head stock is stamped, then filled with ebony Timbermate, then sanded back flat before adding the Tru-oil.

When did this happen, and why is it the first I'm hearing of it????

    Looks good. Nice colour.
I've played around with alcohol inks before, but haven't done a full finish with them yet.

    This looks amazing!

I tried to do the darker Timbermate trick, but I chickened out from the ebony colour and went for maple, which looked darker than ash. It dried to pink, so it didn't much, but at least I didn't ruined my wood.

    Thanks McCreed and Juanito.

I have never had a strat style guitar before - I'm quite impressed with the way it feels to play.

Also McCreed , just a heads up, but a green one is coming!

Beautiful work, Trevor. Love how the matching headstock turned out.

That looks unreal. Especially that grainy half. What a great result - well done.

    Thanks Dozy and Bakersdozen,

The ash bodies can be full of lovely grain. Not sure if it was an accident or planned by the factory making the kits , but the best grain is on the most exposed part of the body. I think I was lucky!

Nice guitar. I do like the grain pattern on it. Lucky to get a decent piece of white ash as a lot of the kits seem to use the straighter grained black ash. An issue of limited availability.

    As promised:
