    First Pit Bull Build

    Hi everyone,

I built my first guitar a year and a half ago. Did stuff it up a bit, but learnt a lot as everyone says. Just got a Pit Bull guitar to build for a friend.

I upgraded nearly everything on the LP style, so it should look really nice when done.

I just past my 50th Birthday and got a compressor and Air Gun (finishing/detail) so looking forward to clear coating with that.

For added fun, I'm going to have a look at screen printing on the head-stock like the Gibson brand is applied, rather than a decal. I had a logo made up 10 years ago for a different reason, but it still works today.

More lessons to be learnt along the way.

    Hi and welcome.

What size air gun have you got? I started out with a full-sized one with a 1.4mm nozzle, but quickly realised it was far too big for guitars (I was getting through lacquer at an alarming rate, most of which was wasted as overspray), so switched to a mini-gun with a 0.8mm nozzle, which I feel is about right and had maybe just slightly more coverage than a large aerosol can does.
