And then double check that the output jack wiring is correct. It's easy to get the wires swapped over and wire the signal and ground connections incorrectly. You'll then get sound but a lot of buzz which doesn't go away when you touch the strings.

Yep checked that too. Even replaced the wires going to output Jack. It’s a bloody mystery!
