    TD's DSCM-1 Truckster

I purchased a DSCM-1 kit in 2020 with the aim of trying to make something like a Truckster, or something inspired by a Truckster. I'm not sure how reliced (!) it will end up, but I have finally got around to starting.

    So far:
lots of sanding up to 240 g.
levelled, filed and polished the frets.
    shaped the headstock.

Good move on any LP-style body IMO! (and tele's too!)
I don't have a particularly prominent belly, but I still find it more comfortable. Especially playing sitting down.

Hear, Hear! Yes, I play sitting down a lot. Until the red strat' style build from earlier this year I had never played a guitar with a belly cut - but I did find it more comfortable.

Are the control cavity routs big enough to take full-sized pots? On some kits you can only fit mini pots without enlargement of cavity walls.

I'm not sure. I don't actually have any full-sized pots to check. What are the advantages to using full-sized pots?

They last longer, plus you've got more real estate to solder ground wires to. Because the carbon track is considerably longer (probably about double that of a mini pot), the taper is supposed to be smoother as well (though if you are a 10 or 0 person it doesn't really matter).

I assumed that if you were making a tribute, you'd be using similar electrical components throughout e.g CTS pots.

Thanks Simon. This is not a true tribute, more an inspired by. As long as it looks similar, I will be happy.

I'm still not even sure if I will have the same 2 switch wiring or just stick with the standard style LP wiring. More research is needed!

I have applied 2 coats of FW sanding sealer using a brush, with 400g sanding after each coat. Feels nice and smooth.

Now waiting for some good spraying weather!

I have just had a couple of weeks out of action due to shoulder surgery. No building and No guitar playing has been very difficult to deal with. Hopefully I can pick up a spray can and make the most of the good spraying weather in Perth.
