    FFS-1 more like.
Another issue with this kit. The hole for the three way switch is drilled too close to the point of the horn. One side of the hole is simply a drill hole into solid wood in the tip of the horn - not into the cavity of the guitar. This means the switch provided is completely impossible to fit through the hole. I tried enlarging the hole carefully with the file, but it will not fit because the body of the switch is impeded by wood.

I have seen a 3-way miniswitch - with a similar sized toggle, but body that is really no wider than the switch nut assembly. This will fit but requires a 1/4" hole - half the size of the one currently in the guitar so I guess I would need to use a washer to fit / stablise. Has anyone used these before or have any recommendations.

It is just possible that a right angle Gotoh three way switch will fit but I suspect the hole might still be too close to the solid wood in the horn.
The real pain is - even having masked off the hole when trying to enlarge slightly - I slipped with the file and made x2 small dents in an otherwise pristine finish ! Will probably need to give it a quick light dust with some nitro on that horn again.

    What the ???
    Thinking out loud here:

How about a treble/rhythm plastic disk like with the single cut (LP) kits? If you used one of them you could possibly move the hole far enough to take the full-size switch. The disk would cover the old hole!

I have a spare black one at home! It's yours if you want to try.

Funny you should say that !
I had one sitting in my Les Paul studio case (I never fitted it) and actually tried it for size earlier this afternoon. It could work if the hole in the body doesn't grow too much. So I ordered a new one with a few different switches I can try (thanks for the offer though). I think I will have a few options now at least - and whilst it is not that wide - I think the Poker chip should just work.

Can always use two small screws so it is like a mini cover if needed [i.e if hole ends up a bit bigger than I would like). I think the mini switch should work though - possibly the Gotoh right angle one too. Here's hoping.

    At last ....Finished !
Pretty happy. Think it has turned out OK - and probably learned several new things along the way fixing some issues with the kit.
Very happy with the Tonerider pickups I put in (even my wife went "wow"). Lovely tone.

Looks nice and black, but there is some nice grain in the finish when seen in bright light / sunlight.

WOW there is a huge difference when in different light.

Looks great in all light conditions. Well done.

Yes - the finish is black with the maple texture subtly present in normal light conditions. But in really strong bright light the flamed texture of the maple under the ink finish absolutely pops out and the colour varies from bronze through black.
