    Father - Daughter Project, ST1 - Jr

My daughters have been learning to play and have been trying to practise on my guitars but only being 10 and 8 have a little trouble reaching the end of the neck and getting their hands around it. I searched a few music stores for a 3/4 strat for them but a lot were quite hefty on the price tag, i came across PitBull and found the ST1-Jr and thought this would be perfect for them, and also a great project for us to build together.

Upon receiving the kit i was impressed at the quality, the care in packaging and the speedy delivery (i received it the next day).

I shall endeavour to document our build for all to enjoy .

Squiggs, that sounds like an awesome project to share with your daughters!
The pitbull kits are great indeed.

Document the build and if at any point during the build questions come up, there is always someone happy to help out.

Have fun, looking forward to following your progress.

    Hi and welcome Squiggs351.

    +1 for a great project.

I had similar problem a number of years ago - but with 4 -5 year olds! Though I was more worried about damage to my guitar.

    Good luck with the build.

Welcome along Squiggs - currently building a guitar each with two of my daughters. #3 will come at some point I'm sure.

We haven't had much time to spend on our guitar, (I only have my girls every second Saturday), but we chose a headstock style, shaped it, and finished with a Hardwax oil.

The girls decided on a Nashville Deluxe Tele Headstock and a Blue & Black colour scheme from a Fender Strat which I will source some paint for.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.

Yes, nice work on the headstock.

I'd be interested to here how the hardwax oil performs long-term. It's not a typical finish used with guitars or guitar necks.

I'm interested too, was somewhat of an experiment as I use the hardwax oil on other things, I found it accentuates the grain in the timber without making it too dark as a whole.
