Rosewood. Certainly doesn't look like any I've seen before.

That surface looks a lot smoother than rosewood, which can be quite grainy. Looks more like a figured ebony to me.
I need to look through the rosewood types on the wood database and see if it resembles any of them.
Possibly Yucatan rosewood? https://www.wood-database.com/yucatan-rosewood/
I've seen some pictures of it online with a grain pattern that's more like yours. Possibly there's a slight level of stain involved as well.
Possibly. Here's some end grainy angles.

Good wood.

It certainly unique. However I do like it. It reminds of some kind of colouring I've seen on cats (I don't their colour names).
From The Wood Database: "Yucatan Rosewood also seems to have a lower oil content than other oily Dalbergia rosewoods..."
I'd like to see what it looks like after bit of lemon oil...

Chamfer time. Good router.
I'll do a bit more finessing on the final bevel, to get it sweeping out to the fin tips, but relieved as always with a positive routing experience.
Maybe tomorrow I'll start hogging out the cavities.
