Pulled the bridge out of the salty rusting pot and put it back together. Fitted it with a range of mismatched hinge screws to keep it authentic and cobbled-together looking.
Also closer with the weathering on the body. I have tried to copy the main areas of wear on the strat as best I can, moving some of them to match a well played or overplayed bass. haven't worked on the thumb position above the pickup yet, but I think I might use a quarter as a thumb rest there (those that know the guitar might get the link? )

Maybe for a bass, being larger, it should be a 50 cent piece. But that could turn you into a rapper.

That’s an awesome thread the JPJ link by simon is particularly cool!
EVH used a quarter 25c piece as a shim under the stock strat bridge so it would not rock back helping with tuning stability before he added the locking trem. It stays on the guitar now

Here is the 1971 quarter dollar in place. You can see how, with one screw, it could be tilted across to sit under the tail of the strat trem to stop it moving back.
One of the great things I enjoyed the most about building the EVH guitar was all the interesting little bits of information and history I picked up on the way
