Rightyo. I knew it was multiscale, didn't realise the center line would be out of square as a result, but I guess that makes sense. I agree, that second example is god awful.
The Pit Bull multi-scale kit neck had a fretboard like that Ibanez. It had a few other issues as well. They were trying to get it improved from the factory so the fretboard end was angled (and the pickups fitted properly). Was supposed to be back in stock mid-July but is obviously running late.
Yeah that’s one of the side effects of the angled cut and scarf. The head stock sides are also now out of the square plane of the blank sides.
The line down the rear matches at the join, but once the shaping is done it may be minutely out of line. I could have avoided this by using a thicker blank and creating a HS angle by cutting away more material, or by using the F style stepped down headstock.
My personal preference is Ibby style scarfed necks, though I have made both I and F style necks in the past.

We’ve pushed this a bit further during this interminable lock down
We have a TR channel cut with relief for the adjuster end, which will sit just under the nut.
The TR sits nice and snug.
I’m trying to make my mind up on fretboard, zebrano or
NG Rosewood or,
Wenge or purple heart.
No real hurry in deciding what do folk think?

I like plain and simple fretboards, no distracting patterns to confuse the eyes. You've already got slanted frets. Which only really rules out the zebrano for me. Being mainly traditional, I'd go for the wenge.
Yeah, that was the way I was leaning, it’s just that the grain on the Wenge slab isn’t all that parallel. It wanders a fair bit.
Still, it’s probably the best option.
I’m thinking that both the Zebrano and the NG Rosewood might look better on a plain maple neck. Lord alone knows what I’m going to do with that slab of Purple Heart.
