So, being a big Kiss fan, I have always wanted an Axe Bass.
So after getting a slab of paulownia of Dozymuppet I decided that the time has come.
I have ordered a PB neck (SSR-4 type) which is a bolt-on, 2x2 paddle and a PB-4 chrome hardware kit. Arrival date is in October.
I will try to use a JB style for the bridge pup and a PB style for the neck pup. 1 volume, 1 tone and a 3 way switch.

I have sanded the body slab down using a belt sander - started with 40 g, 80 g and 120 g.
Sketched a rough outline of the axe from a web picture.
Cut out the body using a jigsaw.
Sanded the body down.
Routed out the electronics cavity using a handheld router - (but I need to get a pattern following router bit rather than using a collar guide). My bit was not deep enough so I also have to drill out some wood to get to 5 mm thickness top.
Also made a cover plate for the electronics cavity out of 3 ply pickguard material.
